Hi Amanda,

Sorry to hear the appointment was such a strain on you, but at least it sounds as if they are going to take good care of you.
Being admitted at 35 weeks will remove the worry of placental abruption, if it did happen you would be in the right place, and what a lovely day they have chosen for the birth!

I can well understand you not wanting to take the anti-sickness pills, but surely she would not have given you them if they weren't safe to take?
Hope you are managing to keep some fluids down in this hot weather.

Lots of love, Doreen xx

Hi Amanda,

Sorry you had such a long session at the hospital, and it`s a shame your doctors were a bit brusque. As long as they take good care of you and monitor you closely!

I think All Saints Day is a very good day to have a baby!

Take care,

Kathleen x

Amanda, sounds like a very thorough appt, especially as it took 3 hours to complete!!! Its a shame the doctors were so cold, but I suppose its just their manner. I am sure the anti sickness pills will be ok for you, they must know what is safe. Re the RA drugs, that has to be your decison.
So, baby to be born on 1st November, it must mean alot to you that its a special day that your baby will be born. To go into hospital from 35 weeks is a sensible idea, you cn be monitored closely then. Just look forward to All Saints Day!!! Lots of love and prayers, take care x x

Sending lots of calming hugs Amanda. All Saints Day is a special time to have a baby. I had my last son by section and it was just as special as all the 'normal' births.
It sounds as if the consultants that you saw are making sure that you have a safe delivery for both you and the baby.

Lots of love,

Eleanor x

If anyone reads this please say a prayer- my knees and elbows have swelled and I feel ill.

I am seeing the GP soon as I also have piles!!

Not too happy today and feeling very sick in the heat.

I am especially nervous about the RA as I have never ever had this before and am worrying now. It may be the heat and all the running aorund I keep doing but still anxious.

Love,

Amanda

Am anda, of course prayers, but you really MUST SLOW DOWN!!! I know its hard and you are being so supportive to Emma and Andy, but maybe this is a little warning to take care of yourself now. The heat definitely doesnt help, but please start to think of yourself, its not selfish its just sensible. Sending (((((hugs))))) too x

Thank you!

Dr is lovely..but says I must see the rheumy on the 4th to discuss. I can take panadol but haven't yet (you know me). They have calmed down now.

I was in a state as I had a headache too and was thinking of all sorts of scary things it could be (why oh why is my mind like this?)...as soon as Mark came home I was calmer and after him tlaking to me and suggeting that I phone NHS direct to tell them I had a headache (!) I decided best not to!

It eased off and I slept quite well even though we are boiling in our room....so at least that's gone.

I have disgusting suppositories for the piles with steroids in them, ooh lovely!

Haven't been sick today but just feeling nauseous now in time for cooking spaghetti bolognese!

I will try and ask Ben to scan the scan photos into the computer (!) so you can see the baby dancing.

Love,
A

Dear Amanda,

Hope that you are feeling better today. Can I suggest a fan running in the bedroom for an hour or so before you go to bed. That will cool the room down and alow you to drop of to sleep. I do that and switch it off before getting into bed.

Lots of love and hope for wellness winging there way to you.

Dear Amanda,
I am hoping that the weather is now cooler where you are and
that you can get a better nights sleep.
How lovely that your due date is All Saints day!
I am also hoping that this terrible sickness goes away
for you too!
Best wishes,

We are all a little sad that daddy has managed to get himself taken to Cambridge! He has been so so busy today that when his freind offered him a lift to the dinner they are hosting for the VIPs he jumped in the car...a few miles down the road onto the motorway he decided to enquire where they were actually heading? LOLOL He rang from the hotel and I said he better stay as how would he get back?? It will mean he'll miss his thyroid pills tomorrow morning but he's going to try and come home by lunch time...

The sickness is still severe but I am definitely not being sick as often which is great! I am not sure why this has happened but it is good news. So far today I haven't been sick but retched a few times...

the swelling an dpain has calmed a little and although my knees and hip are twinging at least I see the rheumy on the 4th. If I have a choice I will have the knees done and have a jab. I am praying the bloods are not high too.

All my skirts are too tight and uncomfortable now so I will need to switch to maternity- how exciting! I have five hand made dresses which my friend made for me ages ago (10 years ago!!LOL) but they are ageless.

Love,

Amanda

Hi Amanda - am thinking of you every day. I'm glad the sickness hassubsided a little today and hope Mark makes it back early tomorrow. I hope you get a chance to take it a bit easier now. The sadness and stress of the last few weeks can''t have helped the RA. Please rest as much as you can.

May 27th - 14 weeks and 4 days

I am sure that the Silver Star high risk team have in their job description 'cause as much anguish to expectant Mams as possible'! LOL

The phone rang at 8.45am (I never answer the phone that early because I was asleep)...Ben came bounding up the stairs to tell me 'the silver start lady rang, you need to go to the hospital at 3.20pm for more blood tests and see a dr!'. I woke up immediately, my heart hammering and my breathing becoming almost hyperventilated! (I am a born worrier- this really is overwhelming me!)...I ring back and the nurse just says they need me back today (a week later!) to repeat the bloods they took as they were abnormal and also to check blood pressure and urine and see the Dr....

By then I was beside myself- the bloods had been for RA type things so all I could think of was they were high and they'd force me back onto a med.

Mark was lost in Cambridge ! but on his way home and so I knew he would be taking me. I tried to get on with usual house hold things but was so worried I was sure my BP was high just from worrying.

Anyway- we were there two hours (poor children- they were at home watching survival programmes)...and one hour was waiting- waiting is no good for blood pressure either but as Mark whispered to me 'you cannot be much of an emergency as we've been waiting her an hour now' ...that made me giggle. Barbara had rung before we left and told me I must visulaise something happy and calming as they take the BP so I decided to think about that.......

The nurse came and I did my urine sample (in a pot with 'Amanda' scawled around the edge!) and then she took me to a bed ! where she took my BP. Mark told her how nervous I was and she was so sweet and began asking me to list the children's ages and birthdays and before I knew it it was over and 120/80- pretty perfect really! PHEW.

She then said all they wanted was to double check em and repeat the bloods because one came back a bit high and one didn't have a name written on it and that was all!!!!! I didn't even need to see a Dr so all my fears had really been for nought!

Mark said it was the best result of time wasting he thinks he's ever had! LOL I felt so much happier when we left...I really think soem nurses are special- the unflappable ones are so reassuring to me.

I have vomited up all my dinner tonight and have a headache but I am sure it is just the constant worry. The nurse did say to us that the silver star team are very cautious and it is all done to keep me safe so I appreciate their concern and help. I need to get used to this as I was warned it would be full on...but I also feel overwhelmed and question if I have the strength to endure whatever is in front of me, but then, I don't have a choice!!!! And of course a baby is the greatest gift of all.

Off to wake Mark up who is now sound asleep on the new sofa....he is off for a whole glorious week!

Love,
A

Amanda, can I just say how much i love your blogs?! I look forward to hearing what you have all been up to, how you are feeling, sharing your ups and downs. It's a bit like reading a modern version of my favourite books of all time - Anne of Green Gables!!

I love reading about your family - takes me back. My 5 are 24 - 14 now, so less busy in some ways and much busier in others. Please keep blogging, and hope you manage to calm your nerves and have a lovely week off together XX Ailsa

Thank you Ailsa! One of favourite all time books is 'Anne of Green Gables'...our daughter Marie has read and re-read the entire collection as they were a childhood favourite of mine.

I am pleased you like reading the blog- I sometimes wonder why I am writing detailed descriptions of vomit ....and how they can interest anyone else! LOLOL

Today has been a busy day as I had the home-schooling group I run each month- it was much quieter today as people must have gone away for the bank holiday. We had 8 Mams and 36 children. Sometimes we can have up to 80 children which is mayhem!

I was very proud of my dear friend Emma who came today with us- she was damanat she'd come but how hard and painful it must have been for her as only in March she was there with baby Marianna- she did extremely well and even held a friend's four month old baby which I think is admirable.

Love,

Amanda
